Today I will again be continuing my guide to leveling a warlock from 1-10; this article is about the spells and abilities gained at level 4, and there is also a video accompanied by a written summary.
NB: This guide, whilst explaining some terminology, assumes you’re not new to the game and understand its basic principles.
To level 4!
Now, at level 4 there are 3 new things to discuss.
The first of these is a fairly major spell called Corruption. This is an instant-cast DoT, which similar to the effect left by Immolate, does damage slowly but surely to the enemy. Most warlocks will use this spell, with the exception of one or two specs that can’t afford to lose the GCD from casting it, and hence it’s pretty important. Use it!
Another ability learned at this level is Curse of Weakness. This is a real does-what-it-says-on-the-tin kind of ability – you cast it on the mob and the mob gets weaker, meaning it hits for less, so you take less damage, so you survive longer, so you can cast more curses of weakness on other mobs, and so on. It’s what you call a cycle of prosperity for WoW. It’s also the first curse spell we learn, and as you’ll no doubt see, we get many other curses too. Wouldn’t be a warlock without them!
Finally, our imp learns Blood Pact, which provides everyone in our raid group or party with extra health, which is pretty tasty for everyone involved. Our imp also benefits from this buff. It’s a passive ability, meaning it doesn’t have to be activated, and you will automatically receive the buff whenever you have the imp summoned.
I hope to have the level 6 guide produced by the end of this weekend, but it depends on RL. I’ll try my hardest though.
